Welcome note from the DEAN OF Communication And Information Technology

The School of Communication and Information Technology was established in January 2017 during the Administration of Arch. Olusegun Aluko, PhD. Mr. Olugbemi, Oloyede ‘Sesan was appointed as the Pioneer Dean of the School. In the year 2020, the First democratically elected Dean in the person of Dr. (Mrs) Charlotte Bose Iro-Idoro emerged. She completed her tenure in the Office in the year 2022. In the year 2023, Dr James Ige Orija was elected as the Dean of the School. At its inception, the school consisted of three Departments namely; Departments of Office Technology and Management, Library and Information Science and Mass Communication. In the 2018/2019 academic session, the Department of Music Technology was established; thus, it became the fourth Department in the School. The Present Heads of the Department in the School are Mr I. A. Jolaade (Principal Lecturer), Department of Office Technology and Management; Mrs. T. A. Adegbite-Badmus (Principal Lecturer), Department of Library and Information Science; Dr O. A. Olaleye (Principal Lecturer), Music Technology and Dr M. O. Abati (Lecturer I, in Acting Capacity), Department of Mass Communication. The Departments of Office Technology and Management, Library and Information Science and Mass Communication offer both Full Time National and Higher National Diploma programmes. The Department of Music Technology only offers the National Diploma Programme. Also, the Departments of Office Technology and Management and Mass Communication run Part Time Programme at the National Diploma level. The core mandate of the school is to turn out Diplomats who are well-grounded in learning and character for the labour market and further educational pursuit. The school Officer is Mr. O. O. Ogundele (B.Sc) while Mr S. O. Olurebi (ND) is a Senior Executive Officer in Administration. Mrs M. A. Keye (HND) is a Chief Confidential Secretary.

Summary of Profile

James Ige Orija is a Chief Lecturer and Head of Office Technology and Management Department at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro,Ogun State, Nigeria.  He was trained as a Business Educator at the College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Osun State and University of Benin, Edo State respectively.  He also attended OlabisiOnabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye for his Master and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees in Personnel Psychology.  In his quest for knowledge, he obtained another Master of Science (M.Sc) Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Office and Information Management at the Lead City University, Ibadan. For several years, he has been lecturing business courses in various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.  He has published widely in reputable Journals and presented papers at conferences.  He was for some years, the Vice Chairman, Association of Business Educators, Ogun State Chapter, Editor-in-Chief, Gateway Journal of Business Education, Managing Editor, Ilaro Journal of Management, Art, Science and Technology to mention but just a few.  He is happily married and blessed with children.
