Open Distance Flexible E-learning (ODFeL)
The Directorate of Open Distance and Flexible e-Learning (ODFeL) was approved by the Academic Board of the Polytechnic on October 18, 2021, with the curriculum delivery as stated by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The academic programme begins in the 2021/2022 Academic Session. The Open, Distance Flexible, and e-Learning (ODFeL) Programmes provide an electronic platform for teaching and learning that combine open learning principles, distance education, traditional face-to-face teaching, and most often e-learning. The ODFeL adopts the curricula of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for both ND and HND programmes and local content may be added from time to time. It provides the learner with a choice of learning strategies, as well as greater flexibility in terms of the place, pace, and time at which the learning takes place.
The objectives of ODFeL Programmes are to:
- enable everyone to learn anywhere, anytime, and anyhow using educational technologies;
- to expand e-learning access to regular students and bring on-board passive students; and
- provide study opportunities to individuals who could not enrol in the regular class as a result of other engagements.
The following individuals are eligible for the programmes:
- individuals who aspire to achieve educational and career development irrespective of location and distance;
- regular students who could not cope with their studies due to other engagements e.g. self-sponsored students;
- individuals with impairment or disabilities but have a passion for higher technical education; and
- individuals who desire to explore digital learning opportunities.
The mode of admission into the programmes are:
- The direct admission is for candidates who choose ODFeL and with admission offered using UTME and O levels.
- Spin-Off Students‟ platform is for candidates who transfer from Regular Programme to ODFeL Programme; the academic records of such students will be transferred automatically to the latter programme and they will graduate with same certificate offered regular students.
- Spin-Off Students are also for students whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) falls in PASS and below.
