OGUN-OSUN KICKSTARTS DAM PROJECT IN FPI

The Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority  (OORBDA) has indicated it's willingness to start the Dam Project at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. 

It could be recalled that OORBDA had previously conducted an inspection tour of the Dam project site almost a year ago to confirm the suitability of the area for the project.  

A key planning meeting between the institution and OORBDA took place at the Boardroom of the Polytechnic, bringing together top officials from both parties.

The meeting, organized at the instance of OORBDA was to introduce the contractor who will handle the dam project. 

The interaction also focused on how the Dam project will not only provide water for domestic and irrigation purposes for the Polytechnic community, but to also provide hands-on learning opportunities for students, especially those in Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The Deputy Rector, Tpl Lukman Lasisi, who represented the Rector expressed the institution’s excitement about the collaboration, noting that the project reflects FPI’s ongoing commitment to practical education and innovation.

Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority was represented by Engr. Taiwo Ogunsanwo (Team Head), Engr. Adewale Adegoke Adegbite, and Engr. Bayo Folorunsho, a Dam expert and the Contractor who will handle the project. 

After a brief boardroom session, both teams proceeded to the proposed Dam site to inspect the land and assess how construction work will begin in earnest. 

The engineers from the OORBDA gave professional input and took preliminary notes for project planning.

The Dam project is expected to open doors for more research, innovation, real-world learning, establish FPI’s reputation as a hub for technical excellence as well as to aid meaningful collaboration between FPI and OORBDA.

In his closing remarks, Tpl Lukman Lasisi expressed his appreciation to both parties for their cooperation and commitment to the project. 

With the Deputy Rector, Admin to welcome the team are the representatives of the Registrar and Bursar, Dean, Schools of Agriculture and Engineering, Directors of Works and Services, Physical Planning, Innovation Centre as well as other relevant professionals relating to the project.
