Student life at The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro is created by enthusiasm, curiosity, passion to learn and a willingness to discover. In other words, it is yours to create. The Institution has two main campuses (East and West) with the range of cultural, recreational and social activities for students at the institution. With so many choices, students can learn new skills or sports; discover talents they never knew they had and make friendships that will create memories for a lifetime.
The polytechnic has on its campus a grass athletic oval, two lawn tennis courts, two sports field containing two football pitches, volley ball pitch, basket ball pitch and a handball pitch. Facilities for indoor games such as table tennis, badmittton courts, and others are available. A gymnasium for physical fitness development is also available on the campus. Television sets installed with Digital Satellite Television dishes are provided in the students' hall of residence and the Staff club for relaxation. All of the above sports facilities are available for staff and students use. In addition, the polytechnic has on its campus a partly furnished and equipped Staff Club for relaxation of staff
Mechanical Engineering
The few months i have spent at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro is one of the most memorable in my life. This is because i got to see the best part of life through getting the best education and extracurricular activities that could develop and shape a student live. The institution does not give room for laziness for both lecturers and students. They provide the neccessary amenities needed by the students to make learning easier and comfortable.

This wonderful citadel of knowledge has helped boost my confidence level, and also helped me see life more than it’s surface view, I have a deeper understanding about life. Fpi made me learn a lot outside the box.
