This grant seeking endeavour was successful because of the collaborative efforts of the Polytechnic's Grants and Proposal Writing Committee.

BACKGROUND

It should be emphasised that Dr. (Mrs) Jumoke Soyemi, the Director, ICT initiated the idea of putting up a committee that could be trained, which could thereafter train others on how to win Research Proposal Grants  after she had been trained on the same.

This resulted in the formation of the Grants and Proposal Writing Committee, by the immediate past Rector, Arc. Olusegun Aluko, PhD,  headed by Engr. Cletus OKOYE.

Other members  of the Committee then were: Dr. Mukail Akinde, Dr. (Mrs) C.B. Iro-Idoro, Dr. (Mrs) Jumoke Soyemi, Dr. (Mrs) B.K. Oguntade, Engr. O.P Aiyelabowo, Ph.D, Engr. O.B. Soyemi Ph.D, Dr J Fabi, Tpl O.O. Olapeju, Ph.D, Mr T.A Jimoh, Dr (Mrs) O.A. Irivboje, and Barrister F. Babalogbon-Adesina.

However, after the emergence of  Dr. Mukail Akinde as Rector, the Committee was reconstituted as FPI Grants Submission Committee and headed by Dr. (Mrs) Jumoke Soyemi.

It could be recalled that The National Research Fund (NRF) was established by the Board of the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund) to galvanize research activities in the nation’s tertiary institutions as one of the five special intervention areas introduced in order to make high-quality manpower a critical driver of the nation’s economy and development, towards actualising the nation’s Development Agenda 2050.

Congratulations to the Research Team, congratulations to the Grants and Proposal Writing  Committee, headed by Engr. C.U. OKOYE, congratulations to the former Rector, Arc. Olusegun O.  Aluko, PhD, who had the foresight to constitute the Committee and offered members the platform to contribute to the success of the endeavour and congratulations to the 6th Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Dr. Mukail Aremu Akinde, FCA for his tenacity at sustaining and improving on an invaluable legacy.

The Management of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, under the research minded leadership of Dr. Mukail Akinde FCA, is highly pleased with this unprecedented feat achieved by the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, and has accordingly, encouraged the staff to take advantage of the last training organised by the Grants Submission Committee by coming up with numerous grants winning ideas.

As at the time of writing this story, some members of the Committee and the grant winning Research Team are in Abuja (as shown in the cover picture) to formally collect all documents relating to the grant.

Once again, congratulations to the Polytechnic community for this laudable feat.
